Patna, since 2005

A local firm, doing one thing for a long time

Shri Ashutosh Securities Pvt. Ltd. has been helping families in Patna and across Bihar invest in mutual funds for 21 years. We are a distributor — our job is to make the process straightforward and to be here when something needs sorting out.

What we actually do

Most of the work is not scheme selection. It is getting KYC done correctly the first time, setting up a mandate that does not fail, consolidating folios someone has accumulated across four fund houses, sorting out a redemption that has been stuck for three weeks, and sitting with a family to decide the order in which they fund a house, a degree and a retirement. That is the part that a website cannot do and the part we are actually paid for.

Why we rebuilt this site around calculators

Nearly every conversation we have starts with a number someone has half worked out — how much they need for retirement, whether the new tax regime suits them, what a SIP would come to. We would rather you arrive with that number already in hand. The thirteen calculators here run entirely in your browser and cost nothing, and none of what you type is sent to us.

The backtester exists for a different reason. Every projection on the internet asks you to assume a return, and the assumption does all the work. Running a SIP against a scheme’s real published NAV history — including the stretches where it went nowhere for two years — is a more honest picture of what investing actually feels like.

How we are paid

We are paid a trail commission by the asset management company whose scheme you invest in. It is built into the scheme’s expense ratio, so you do not write us a cheque — but it is not free either, and you should know it exists. We do not charge a separate advisory fee, and we are not a SEBI-Registered Investment Adviser. Anything we tell you is incidental to distribution.

A note on the word “advisor”

You will not find it on this site. SEBI separates investment advice from distribution: a Registered Investment Adviser charges you a fee for advice and cannot earn commission, while a distributor earns commission and cannot hold itself out as an adviser. We are the second. The distinction sounds like paperwork but it determines who is paying us and for what, so it is worth being plain about.
