Child education planner
This is the goal with the hardest deadline. The date is fixed years in advance, the fee is payable whatever the market is doing that month, and education costs have risen faster than almost anything else.
Course
Sets a starting cost — adjust it below to what you actually expect.
The full course, not one year.
Education costs have historically risen faster than general inflation. Planning at 4–5% here is the usual reason a fund falls short.

Two things worth knowing
- As the course date approaches, the money should move out of equity. A 40% fall in the year your child starts college cannot be waited out — the fee is due regardless.
- 45.99 lakh rupees sounds alarming, but it is the same purchasing power as ₹15,00,000 today. The figure is large because the rupee will be smaller, not because the course got better.
Two things people get wrong here
- Using general inflation. Course fees have historically risen faster than the consumer price index. Planning at 5% when the real figure is closer to 9% leaves a gap that is only visible when it is too late to fix.
- Staying in equity to the end. Equity is right for the first two-thirds of this goal and wrong for the last two years. Start shifting to debt roughly three years out — a fall in the final year cannot be waited out, because the fee is due anyway.
The preset course costs are rough present-day figures meant only as a starting point. Replace them with what you actually expect to pay.
